They're coming back!

A legendary brand, loved by kids and adults alike, consigned to the bin in 1998 for whatever reason - Global standardisation or something I think - is coming back!

Is it for good though? I know there are consumer groups out there lobbying for all the old confectionery brands to come back. I'm sure that there are also people out there who refuse to buy Starburst until they change the name back. Popular demand has everything to do with these revivals - Wispa for example.

It would make a good PR story if they were limited edition - a once a year all strawberry packet for example - if somewhat confusing. But something like this could keep the momentum going.

Personally, I think they should just rebrand them back to Opal Fruits. It was a branding crime at the time to change them when they were so established - almost as category descriptor of chewy sweets! For years people would still call them Opal Fruits, which shows the particular strength of the naming and the brand - and they just got rid of it! Bring them back for good!
