Watford 'Til I Die!

We got our free paper last night. I can't say that I read it with any passion, ok, so maybe I don't even 'read' it at all, but when I saw this last night I went a bit bananas. 'Oh god, I live in a town full of crims' I thought and grabbed it off the floor (I never grab the paper with any passion either!) Anyway, my criminal thoughts were placated when I actually looked at it and discovered this to be a 3 ad! I was so impressed I put it in my bag and carried it round all day with me. (Seriously, I did that...just incase, you never know...)

Bravo! That got round the first hurdle anyway, getting non-readers or limited engaged readers to grab the paper with fervour and give it a good look. Some sexily-relevant copy right there! I have to say I love a bit of targeting. This ad being specific to Watfordians, as it promotes the Watford 3 store, really appeals to consumers' emotional attachments with what they know best. As I am a new Watfordian I sat there thinking 'It says the Harlequin Centre, I know where that is!' and ended up feeling really great. I love how this ad plays on locality to its best efforts to promote its offerings.

I wonder if this ad is there because Watford has low penetration of 3 users, or whether its rather high and getting people involved with the new tarriffs, ooohh I wonder what the other local ads look like, and where they are, ooooh I wonder how these relate to their below-the-line stuff and I wonder in what state the business is in the warrant these promotions. I'd best be off and do some digging, I am an intrigued little kitten!
