More Gems for the Ad Bin!

Lately, a lot of ads I have seen are truly horrific. This one has been bugging me for three weeks now. It's an MPU and its been sitting on Hotmail when you log in for at least 3 weeks. It's appalling! It is about as targeted as carpet bombing, though, as I am not a bloke I don't know if it comes up when they log in. Even so, if its women-only, its getting everyone from bald old ladies in Bali to troublesome under 12s in Twyford!

Herbal Essences Colour are intending to pitch the wild factor with this offering, but it falls seriously short of wild, infact severely short of conscious at times! You see the poor model looking severely emotionally and physically sedate, even her subtle fluttering of the eyelids looks like she's struggling to remain awake.

I can't even see her hair properly to make an astute judgement on wildness. It doesn't even look like hair, it looks like some fabric from Camden Market. If it is her hair, it looks far too naturally coloured to convince me that this brand is really about striking out. For a wild colour brand, I am expecting Fire Apple Red or Electric Blue and here comes some fetching...Auburn! The only give away that it is real Herbal Essences coloured hair is that she has two strands stuck to her lipgloss...classy!

I can see what they're on about. Herbal Essences clearly can't encroach too much on Live's territory, its just not in their nature (see what I did there?) Ahem, yet it can't be ignored that any 'wild' proposition can only really go so far (i.e. not very!)

To make me dye my hair again, I'd want a colour so markedly different to my own, people would notice. Auburn isn't going to cut it I am afraid!
